Millions allegedly lost following NiceHash hack
Unfortunately, the cryptocurrency mining marketplace NiceHash has been attacked by hackers. NiceHash’s team confirmed that the attack occurred through an official statement. The team posted on social media that “there has been a security breach involving NiceHash website.” Moreover, this attack also resulted in loss of funds.
Initially, no official number was revealed when it comes to how many bitcoins hackers have stolen. However, soon it was claimed that professional hackers had stolen 4.736.42 bitcoins, which is the equivalent of about $80 million.

The company’s statement came after a couple of hours of reports talking about this hack, and people being worried that their NiceHash-associated wallets were empty. First, the NiceHash webpage informed people that the website is “under maintenance,” but a couple of hours after, the company came with the official statement.

The company said that it was working to recover the bitcoins for its users. NiceHash also said that it believed that the hackers came from outside the European Union. No other details were revealed for the moment. This cryptocurrency mining marketplace has been founded in 2014, and was a place for miners to rent out their hash rate to buyers.
