The New Intel Core i3 is Actually A Core i7?
If you already own an Intel Core i7 7700K you might think that you hava a high end CPU, but by today’s new Intel’s standard you actually have a Core i3.
Intel has started to take the core wars seriously, and their first response was price cuts on their X-series of CPUs as well as mainstream 9’th generation. But now, Intel is preparing a new change for its processors, and this is the proper action we were all been waiting for.
According to a listing that appeared in the SiSoftware database, the Core i3-10100 processor will have 4 physical cores and 8 threads. It will actually be an i7 from two years ago. After seven generations of processors in which the pattern has remained unchanged, Intel is in the position of having to lift the smallest member of the Core family, the i3 to a new status.
Thus, in 2020 we will have a pretty interesting processors lineup. The information given above shows the possibility that the Core i9 models will be elevated to 10 cores, which would mean that we will have a Core i7 with 8 cores and maybe 16 threads, and the Core i5 will probably maintain its 6 cores and 12 threads.
Of course, the tenth generation of Intel processors is also based on Skylake, because they haven't been able to optimize the 10 nanometer process yet, or because the new architecture is still unable to operate at high power consumption. We will see what the new tech from Intel is capable of only in 2021 though, according to the news that have been in circulation for several months, but until then we are very happy to see that Intel is changing its game and taking the Ryzen threat on their market-share seriously.
Competition is good, and it’s about time to see some real CPU power available for us, the consumers.
