Best 1440p 1080p Gaming Monitors at 144hz in 2021
1080p - 1440p - 144Hz Gaming Monitor Recommendations Depending On Performance And Budget.
One of the biggest mistakes you can make when building a gaming setup is to choose a 60Hz monitor. Especially in FPS games like CS: GO, PUBG, Battlefield 1 or Fortnite, a 144Hz gaming monitor improves the gaming experience and performance a lot. Once you've switched to a 144Hz gaming monitor, you will never turn back to a 60Hz one.
In addition to the higher refresh rate, TN panel monitors have a much better response time than IPS or VA panel monitors.
We must specify from the beginning that TN gaming monitors have positive and negative sides. If you are switching from IPS or VA monitors to this type of monitor, you need to consider that both the viewing angles and the colors are clearly lower than other monitor types. Also, you need to spend some time going through the monitor settings to get good colors.
In this review we will talk about 144Hz gaming monitors, with 24, 27 inches and ultra-wide screens with resolutions starting from 1080p up to 4K.
Table Of Contents
Before going deeper into the review, let’s talk a little about some technical specs. A high resolution can reduce fps and with that your gaming experience, if you do not use a high-performance GPU, and a big screen with low resolution makes the image less clear due to low pixel density.
A very important aspect for gaming monitors is the response time, which is the time required for a pixel to switch from one color to another. This value, specified by the manufacturers of 1 ms GTG gaming monitors, does not really represent the performance of the monitor in terms of how fast the pixels can change color.
The values recorded by the monitors in terms of contrast and gamma are other aspects that are important for gaming monitors. High contrast monitors provide more saturated colors than low-contrast monitors, having as result more faded colors. Gamma value is important for details in dark areas.
Black eQualizer is an important setting for gaming monitors because it adjusts gamma to provide more detail in dark spaces by changing the dark shades values.
Motion Blur Reduction makes images movement smoother, the image appears clearer and opponents can be seen more easily in high competitive FPS games, but it increases the monitor's input lag value and decreases its brightness.

Moving forward, I will present, what I believe to be the best gaming monitors available on the market today, both with their positive and negative parts, but the final decision, as always, will belong to you according to your preferences.
Not all monitors are factory calibrated, requiring you to spend quite some time in order to reach the desired colors and brightness.
Recommendation of 4K gaming monitors, 144Hz
Acer Predator X27 - The best monitor for 4K gaming.
Display: 27 ″ | Resolution: 3840 × 2160 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: IPS | Response time: 4ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Additional features: G-Sync, Built-in Speakers
The Acer Predator X27, is in my opinion the best monitor for 4K gaming , pushing the technology of gaming monitors to the upper limit.
The native refresh rate of the monitor is 120Hz, the 144Hz being obtained by overcloking. To reach 144Hz you need to activate the overcloking option in the monitor's Gaming menu.
To change the monitor refresh rate, you must access the nVidia Control Pannel. To get high fps on a 4K monitor you also need a high-performance video card like an RTX 3080 for example.
Notice to those who want to use this monitor for professional editing, the 10 bits color depth is available at a refresh rate of up to 98Hz.
In addition to exceptional gaming features, the Predator X27 monitor offers professional color rendering. It covers 100% of the sRGB color gamut, 99.89 of AdobeRGB and over 90% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, and along with the 4k resolution it offers stunning detail and color for a gaming monitor.
The Acer Predator X27 offers the best HDR experience a gaming monitor can have, with exceptional uniformity even at the edges of the screen.
Windows 10 may not play HDR images by default, so to enjoy HDR performance of your monitor in Windows 10 you need to go to Start-> Settings-> System -> Display and select HDR and WCG.
Then a new window will open in which allowing you to set the brightness. A good setting for this monitor is between 70 and 75%. Even if some games do not support HDR, you will also be impressed by the SDR performance of the monitor.
The performance of the monitor is exceptional, it needs a fan to keep the temperatures under control as it can get quite hot. If I were to find half a negative point of this monitor is the fan noise. In most cases, a fan on the case, video card cooler, or processor cooler will be noisier than the monitor fan.
G-Sync technology for nVidia video cards synchronizes the video card with the monitor, being usable between 24 and 144Hz.
Asus Rog Swift PG27UQ - The first 4K true gaming monitor.
Display: 27 ″ | Resolution: 3840 × 2160 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz (overcloking) | Panel Type: IPS | Response time: 4ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Additional features: G-Sync, HDR10
This is the first monitor in the world capable of supporting 144Hz at 4K resolution, 3840 x 2160. When it comes to gaming, there is not much difference between this Asus monitor and the one presented above, the Acer Predator X27.
Not to understand that the Asus Rog Swift PG27UQ monitor has bad colors, not by far, as it uses the same IPS panel from AU Optronics, but for critical work in design the Acer monitor comes out on top. You can get the same natural color rendering on the Asus monitor, but you need a professional colorimeter.
A positive aspect of the Asus monitor compared to Acer is the noise made by the fan. Asus has an integrated controller that adjusts the fan speed according to need, thus being quieter than the Acer monitor.
Since we are talking about a 4k monitor, you need a very powerful video card to get 144 fps. As with the Acer monitor, the 144Hz can be obtained only by overcloking. As an average of 144 fps is quite difficult to achieve in some games, I recommend using the monitor at 120Hz for a better gaming experience.
Ultra-wide gaming monitor recommendations
Samsung LC49HG90DM (CHG90) Monitor Review
Curved display: 49 ″ | Resolution: 3840 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 32: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: VA | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Additional features: FreeSync, HDR, Quantum Dot
The Samsung CHG90 is a monitor monster, which is designed for both gaming and multitasking. Recommended for those who want to get a larger field of view in games or for replacing a dual monitor setup.
Not to confuse this monitor with the CRG9 , this one having a higher resolution (5120x1440 compared to 3840x1080) and a refresh rate of 120Hz. If the 120Hz refresh rate is enough for you, then you should choose between the two monitors.
Returning to the Samsung CHG90 gaming monitor, it has a screen resolution of 3840 x 1080, being super ultra-wide and curved. To better understand the dimensions of this monitor, place two 27-inch monitors next to each other and get the dimensions and resolution of the Samsung CHG90 monitor.
Before buying this monitor it is advisable to measure the available space you have on the desk, its dimensions being 120.3 cm long, 55.55 high with a 38.15 cm footprint on the desk with the mounting bracket.
Although the monitor has considerable dimensions, the support does its job well. You also have the option to mount the monitor on the wall.
The monitor connectivity consists of 2 HDMI 2.0 ports, 2 DisplayPort 1.2 of which 1 mini, 3 USB 3.0 ports, as well as 2 audio ports for headphones and microphone.
The monitor does not need calibration, but must be switched to custom mode to obtain the DCI-P3 color range.
1440p QHD gaming monitors at 144Hz Recommendations
ACER Predator XB271HU -The best monitor for gaming at 1440p/144Hz resolution
Display: 27 ″ | Resolution: 2560 × 1440 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz (165Hz with overcloking) | Panel Type: IPS | Response time: 4ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Additional features: G-Sync, Speakers
The range of XB monitors from Acer come with TN or IPS panels, depending on the model. In the case of the XB271HU gaming monitor, we are dealing with an IPS panel of 27 ″ at a resolution of 2560 x 1440. The pixel density offers a clear image, and the IPS panel produces very good colors with wide viewing angles, covering 100% sRGB color range.
The refresh rate of the monitor is 144Hz, going up to 165Hz in overcloking mode. Use the DisplayPort cable to get 144Hz and G-Sync, the HDMI port is locked at 60Hz.
In addition to the two HDMI and DisplayPort ports (cables are included in the package), the monitor also has 4 USB 3.0 ports.
The first thing we notice when we take it out of the box is that we are dealing with a quality monitor designed for gaming.
The support consists of three red aluminum legs and manages to keep the monitor well fixed on the desk. The monitor can rotate 30 degrees in both directions and tilt 40/35 degrees, while the height can be adjusted by 6 centimeters. The monitor edges are very thin and create the feeling that the monitor is much larger.
The menu is quite intuitive and can be accessed with the help of the 5 classic buttons located on the front.
FULL HD gaming monitors at 144Hz - Recommendations
ASUS Rog Strix XG27VQ Gaming Monitor review, 144Hz
Display: 27 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: VA | Response time: 4ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Additional features: FreeSync
The ASG XG27VQ is a 27-inch Full HD monitor and is part of the ROG gaming division, or Republic of Gamers.
144Hz is the starting point when we are searching for a good gaming monitor, and this specification could not be missing from the Asus monitor.
The VA panel that comes with the monitor is superior to the TN panels present in other gaming monitors, offering much better colors due to the high contrast and superior viewing angles.
If in the case of 24” monitors the need for the curved panel is debatable, while the 27 inch curved gaming monitors offer a special feeling.
The Extreme Low Motion Blur technology implemented in this monitor reduces the ghosting effects of fast-moving objects.
The input lag is only 8 milliseconds, which leads to a shorter delay between commands and on-screen playback.
The monitor has AURA RGB lighting, which projects the ROG logo under the support.
The monitor has been designed to look good on both the front and back. ASUS Gaming Rog Strix XG27VQ is distinguished by its curved design and very thin frames.
The main 5 buttons are positioned in the right rear, and the support leg has a hole through which the cables can be passed, whether we are talking about the keyboard, mouse, headphones or the monitor cable itself.
The monitor stand is very stable on the desk and allows height adjustment up to 100 mm, front and rear tilt from -5 to 20 degrees and left-right pivoting to 50 degrees.
The ASUS XG27VQ does not have built-in speakers, but they are irrelevant anyway so you won’t miss them too much.
MSI Optix MAG27C Gaming Monitor, 144Hz, 27 ″ Review
Curved display: 27 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: VA | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Additional features: FreeSync
The MSI Gaming Optix MAG27C has been recently launched on the market. Like any new gaming monitor, that is part of the premium range, the MAG27C is curved and has a refresh rate of 144Hz and a GTG response time of 1ms.
The viewing angles are 178 degrees, which means that color rendering is not influenced by the angle from which you look at the monitor.
There was no shortage of eye protection technologies such as Anti-Flicker, the name MSi used for Flicker Free, or Low Blue Light to reduce blue light.
The monitor menu is easy and intuitive and we can easily say that MSI did a really good job. There are several ways in which the monitor's OSD menu can be controlled. MSI has abandoned the classic menu access buttons and implemented a joystick that is positioned in the rear right.
There is the possibility to install the Gaming OSD application from the manufacturer's website, and the monitor settings can be made simpler and faster by using the mouse and keyboard.
There is also the remote control option by installing the MSI Remote Display application, available for Android phones. Once the menu is opened, the current monitor settings appear at the top of it. Below them are the settings categories containing different options.
The MSI Gaming Optix MAG27C is well built, has a metal-like finish and creates a premium monitor look. MSI has not equipped this monitor with height adjustment support and that is something I don't really like about it.
On the connectivity side, the monitor has 2 USB 2.0 ports, 1 USB 2.0 type B port, 1 headphone port, 1 Display Port, and 2 HDMI 1.4 ports.
Gaming Monitors 24 ″ at 144Hz - Recommendations
LG 24GM79G-B, 144Hz Gaming Monitor Review
Display: 24 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 4ms (1ms LMB) | Viewing angle: 170/160 |
The LG Gaming 24GM79G-B is an upgrade to the old LG24GM77 monitor, which was really appreciated by gamers.
The colors are pretty good after a careful setup, surpassing all other TN panel monitors in this review, except for the Samsung monitor which has VA panel and superior colors.
LG has adopted a not-so-fortunate marketing tactic, choosing to specify a response time of 5 ms GTG and 1 ms MBR (Motion Blur Reduction). The 5 ms specified by the manufacturer scared quite a lot of potential customers who preferred to go to other manufacturers who promote their products with 1 ms response time.
However, they did not know that the LG monitor actually has a better response time than many of the monitors that specify 1 ms.
The response time without Overdrive is 13.6 ms, 3.9 ms with Overdrive and 7.2 ms with optimal Overdrive. The recorded input lag value is 9.7 ms, any value value below 20 ms being considered excellent. The LG monitor does not disappoint, but even surpasses much more expensive competitors on the gaming monitor market.
The LG 24GM79G-B is a very good 144Hz gaming monitor, which offers very good colors and contrast for a TN panel, a monitor with very low response time and input lag.
The joystick implemented by LG to navigate the monitor menu makes navigating much easier. In the Game Mode section of the menu there are 3 profiles that can be set and stored, as well as the profiles set by LG called FPS 1, FPS 2 and RTS.
The 5 Gaming Mode profiles have dedicated buttons for a quick change of color profile.
Samsung C24FG70FQU, curved Gaming Monitor , 144Hz Review
Curved display: 23.5 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: VA | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 178/178 | Additional features: FreeSync
If in 2009 it was the first company to launch a 120Hz gaming monitor, Samsung has been missing from the gaming monitor market for a long time.
Since 2017, Samsung is back on track with the new 144Hz monitors line that feature anti motion blur technology. The manufacturer did not follow the classic line of gaming monitors by using TN panels, but proposes VA panels with quantum dot technology and curved screen.
The new series consists of 2 monitors, Samsung Gaming C24FG70 23.5 inches, resolution 1920 x 1080 and Samsung Gaming C27FG70 with the same specifications, but with a diagonal of 27 inches.
This Samsung monitor is the only one in our recommendation list that does not have a TN panel.
The advantage of using a VA panel is that it offers clearly superior colors compared to other TN monitors and a double contrast. Also monitors with quantum dot technology consume less energy than others.
The panel covers 125% of the sRGB range, with high color saturation, which makes the games look much better.
The contrast is clearly superior to the other monitors with values 2.5 times higher than the rest of the gaming monitors in our list.
The white color temperature is 6206K and is in the acceptable range. It could be better, given the fact that there are monitors in the list with values closer to 6500K.
Visibility angles are not the strong point of this monitor. Even though the values specified by Samsung are similar to those of IPS monitors, in reality they are similar to TN monitors.
Samsung has included in this monitor anti motion blur technology (MBRT-motion blur reduction technology).
The response time of the monitor to light gray-dark gray-light gray is 7.7, excellent value, even without active overdrive.
The input lag value could not be measured due to the monitor's backlight, but no problems were reported.
The monitor supports any kind of adjustment, both in height, rotation and tilt. At the bottom of the monitor is a light called "Arena Lighting" , which illuminates the base of the stand.
The height adjustment is not done by the classic pivot lifting system, but by bending the monitor, which reduces the space between the user and the screen when it is fully lowered.
The menu is well structured and easy to guess. Accessing it is done through a joystick located behind the monitor, and on its bottom frame there are 3 buttons for quick change of game profiles.
At the top of the menu we find important gaming settings such as Black Equilizer, Response Time, Refresh Rate, FreeSync and Low Input Lag.
The monitor has two HDMI ports, a DisplayPort and an audio headphone jack.
The Samsung C24FG70 gaming monitor has anti-glare protection, while Freesync can be used between 70-144Hz.
The Samsung C24FG70 is on top in our recommendation list for Full HD gaming monitors, with the best colors and image quality, excellent response time, but the high price can be an impediment for some buyers.
AOC G2590PX, 144Hz, 24″ Gaming Monitor Review
Display: 24.5 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 | Additional features: FreeSync, Speakers
The AOC 62590PX is part of the new range of gaming monitors from AOC and replaces the existing PF series still on the market.
Compared to the previous series, AOC has made some important improvements. Colors, a problem with TN panels, have been significantly improved over the previous range, and viewing angles are slightly better.
The monitor records an input lag of 10.2 ms, which means that the user will not feel any difference between the given command and its reproduction by the monitor. In this case, any value less than 15 ms is good and does not affect gaming performance.
To make a comparison with a rival, LG 24GM79G-B, the LG model has an optimal overdrive response time with only 0.9 ms better.
The AOC Gaming G2590PX excels in maximum and minimum brightness where it surpasses all its competitors in this price area, but it could be better on the contrast side.
The monitor is capable of reproducing 97.3% of sRGB colors, and the 6694K white color temperature is very close to the ideal value. The range value is almost perfect, with a deviation of only 0.2.
Visibility angles are better than the competition, but don't expect to find anything similar to IPS panels.
Shadow Control allows players to see in the darkest corners without affecting the other colors.
The monitor looks good, is stable on the desk, and the support leg is provides room for cable management. The frame is very thin, making it possible to use it in a setup with several monitors.
On the connectivity side, the monitor comes with a Display Port, two HDMI ports, a VGA port, and five USB 3.0 ports.
We notice the lack of a headphone jack but the monitor comes with two integrated 2W speakers.
The monitor supports 130mm height adjustment, tilt up to 19.5 degrees and left-right rotation of 45 degrees.
This monitor is ideal for first-person-shooter games, and the price is more than attractive. The Flicker Free and Low Blue Light technology ensures long gaming sessions. A very fast monitor, with a native refresh rate of 144hz, good colors that fits perfectly in a competitive gaming system.
AOC Gaming Monitor G2460PF, 144Hz review
Display: 24 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 | Additional features: FreeSync, Speakers
The AOC G2460PF offers all the necessary ports, as well as the height / inclination adjustments that any monitor should have. The colors are acceptable, and the FreeSync function can be a decisive factor in choosing this monitor for those with AMD video cards.
The colors reproduced by the monitor at the standard settings are of medium quality and with a little patience through the menu you can get pleasant colors.
The monitor is quite bright even with brightness set to low values, resulting in a mediocre contrast of only 791.1: 1.
The brightness problem can be reduced by choosing from Gamma 3 settings, Color Temperature on User and brightness setting to 0, for gaming sessions at night or in dark rooms. These settings drastically decrease the excessive brightness.
The monitor does not have a Low Blue Light function, but it can be manually configured by the user.
Shadow Control, another option present on the AOC G2460PF monitor, is a kind of Black Equilizer from Benq or Black Stabilizer from LG, but the implementation is weaker.
The AOC G2460PF supports AMD Freesync, which appears and is printed on the left side of the monitor frame. The Freesync operating range is 30-144Hz. The AOC G2460PF also has two built-in speakers, but the sound quality they provide is mediocre.
Overdrive, the function through which you can adjust the response time of the monitor, has 5 setting: Off, Weak, Light, Medium, Strong. It is important for the user to be able to choose between several steps the Overdrive setting because a very aggressive setting can bring negative effects such as reverse ghosting.
The monitor's response time is very good, recording 13ms without Overdrive and the input lag time recorded by the monitor is excellent, only 10.1 ms.
In the monitor menu we find the Game Mode option that can be set to FPS, RTS or Racing mode. These modes do nothing but change the color, brightness and contrast settings of the monitor, depending on the type of game you choose.
In addition, we find 2 game modes , which can be set and stored according to your preferences.
The monitor has a wide range of ports, 1 DisplayPort, 1 HDMI, 1 DVI, 1VGA, 2 audio jacks and 5 USB 2.0. A red-painted USB port allows you to quickly charge devices such as smartphones or tablets.
The 144Hz monitor frequency can be reached through the DisplayPort and DVI ports, the HDMI port being limited to 60Hz.
A support is attached to the back of the monitor leg for cable management. It can be mounted both on the wall and has VESA support.
The G2460PF also comes with integrated speakers, but it is not a necessary feature for gaming monitors.
A problem reported by users on some models is the high brightness when turned on, taking a few minutes to return to normal.
AOC includes in the monitor package the DisplayPort, VGA, HDMI, audio and power cables.
AOC Gaming G2460PG, G-Sync, 144Hz Review
Display: 24 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 | Additional features: G-Sync
The AOC Gaming G2460PG is the only 24-inch monitor with 1920 × 1080 resolution and 144Hz refresh rate that features G-Sync technology for Nvidia cards.
For the most part, this monitor is identical to the AOC G2460PF, the only difference is that one has G-Sync, while the other has FreeSync. While FreeSync implementation is very cheap, G-Sync requires additional costs and that is why the price differs between the two.
However, if the contrast, color, and brightness values are similar between the two monitors, the G2460PG has a faster response time. 10.9 ms without Overdrive and 5.6 ms with Overdrive at the optimal value.
AOC Gaming G2460PG is a very fast monitor, an excellent choice for Nvidia GPU owners who want to synchronize the monitor with the video card, for a better visual gaming experience.
BenQ Zowie XL2411P Gaming Monitor, 144Hz review
Display: 24 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 | Additional equipment: Speakers
Zowie is a small BenQ division that focuses on gaming peripherals , whether it's mice, headphones or monitors.
The colors are quite faded wit the standard monitor settings , weaker than the LG or Asus VG248QE monitors, but with a few adjustments through the settings, you can get acceptable colors.
Even if the colors are not the best, the BenQ XL2411 has an advantage because it is easier to distinguish objects in dark areas thanks to the Black Equilizer option.
The contrast recorded by the monitor is 833.3: 1, and the minimum brightness is 0.42 cd / m2. The color temperature is 6.823K and the gamma value is 1.86.
Without overdrive, the BenQ Zowie XL2411P has a response time of 28.2 ms recording the highest value of all the monitors presented in our review. With overdrive enabled, the monitor manages to output 4.1 ms.
The monitor's input lag is excellent, recording 9.5 ms.
Build Quality
The monitor is quite solid, the whole monitor being made of a matte plastic, and the monitor base has a kind of support on which you can put your phone or anything else of similar size.
It cannot reach 144Hz via HDMI, so you must connect it via the Display Port cable if you want higher refresh rates.
ASUS Gaming Monitor VG248QE, 144Hz review
Display: 24 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 | Additional equipment: Speakers
The colors reproduced by Asus VG248QE are very good for a TN monitor, only the LGs in this price range having a superior color rate. Even so, the colors must be adjusted because they are quite fade with the standard settings.
Unfortunately, the monitor uses PWM which can lead to eye fatigue if used in long gaming sessions.
With idle overdrive, the monitor has a response time of 13.8 ms, down to 6.5 ms with overdrive enabled. The input lag is only 23 ms.
If you have special glasses, the monitor can also be used in 3D, which supports Nvidia 3D Vision. And, to make sure you don't forget this feature, Asus printed a large 3D Vision logo on the stand.
The monitor can be tilted, rotated and supports height adjustment. In addition to the support that comes with the monitor, it can also be mounted on the wall or on a VESA support.
Related: Best Dual Monitor Stands for 2021
The monitor's frame, base and back are glossy, which means it can gather fingerprints and dust very quickly.
The monitor cannot reach 144Hz via the HDMI port. To reach the maximum refresh rate, connect the monitor to the PC via DisplayPort or DVI. The DisplayPort cable is not included in the box, it must be purchased separately.
The Asus VG248QE also comes with two built-in 2W stereo speakers, which, however, are not of the highest quality.
The monitor supports cable management through a red support on the back of the monitor leg.
Released in 2013, the Asus VG248QE is a fairly old monitor on the market, it is fast and has nice colors for a TN panel. Even though it uses outdated technologies such as PWM, the VG248QE is a monitor that has stood the test of time and is still appreciated by gamers.
Lenovo Legion Gaming Monitor Y25f-10, 144Hz review
Display: 24.5 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 | Additional features: FreeSync
Launched last year, the Lenovo Legion Y24f-10 stands out from the rest of the gaming monitors in the budget range with the HDR function.
In games, this function can influence details visibility in very wide spaces or closed areas. HDR can be turned on or off, depending on your preferences.
HDR aside, the Legion Y25f-10 can reproduce a nice contrast and pretty good colors for a TN panel.
The FreeSync technology present in this monitor brings a plus to gamers with AMD video cards.
The built quality is decent, the appearance is pleasant, the plastic is not shiny, and the thin frame of only 2 mm looks really nice.
The monitor supports any kind of adjustment, whether we are talking about height, rotation or tilt.
The only problem with this monitor is that some models do frame skipping at a refresh rate of 144Hz. I still don't know if it's a firmware problem or those monitors were defective.
DELL Gaming Monitor S2419HGF 144Hz review
Display: 24 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 | Additional features: FreeSync
Dell has accustomed us with high quality monitors, especially when it comes to color reproduction and good factory calibration. Of course, these facts were true for IPS panel monitors.
The first thing we need to mention about the Dell Gaming S2419HGF is that it falls into the budget gaming monitors segment.
Although the monitor has 144Hz specifications, the actual monitor refresh rate is 120Hz. The 144Hz is reached by overclocking. Don't worry, it's not the only monitor in this price range that specifies 144Hz, when in fact they are reached by overclocking. We have plenty of examples from Lenovo and HP.
The monitor uses a TN panel, and Dell hasn't done much to improve colors or viewing angle.
The Dell S2419HGF comes set to a 4 ms response time and can be downgraded to 1 ms GTG when the "Super Fast" gaming mode is accessed. Unfortunately, this setting introduces ghosting effects to fast-moving objects.
I like the fact that I found a multitude of ports on a budget monitor. It has two HDMI 1.4 ports, a Display Port, 3 USB 3.0 ports, two Jack ports, one for output and one for connecting headphones.
The built quality is good, the monitor support is stable, height adjustment up to 130mm, its inclination and rotation allow any adjustment according to the user's preferences.
Acer Gaming Monitor KG251QF, 144Hz Review
Display: 24.5 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 | Additional features: FreeSync, Speakers
The monitor supports AMD FreeSync technology, which is an advantage for those who own AMD video cards. Other technologies implemented in the monitor are Blue Light Filter, Flicker-free and HDCP.
The colors are acceptable for a TN panel, even better than other expensive models. Even the viewing angles are acceptable when compared to other TN monitors.
Design wise, the monitor looks very good, the frames are very small, the plastic is matte, and the stand has a pleasant red shade on it.
The monitor can be tilted up to 15 degrees, but does not allow height adjustment. I don't understand why Acer chose to include speakers in this gaming monitor. It is irrelevant to a gamer whether the monitor has speakers or not, because everyone uses headphones or better sound systems.
Speaker costs could have been redirected to a stand that would allow for height adjustment for example. However, the monitor supports wall mounting or VESA mounting, and if you want to adjust the height or rotate it, you can purchase a monitor wall mount and solve the problem.
We must mention that the Acer Gaming KG251QF is one of the cheapest 144Hz gaming monitor available on the market.
It doesn't have all those "fancy" gaming specifications found on other monitors, but it's a fast monitor with a new panel that does its job at a fair price.
Acer GN246HLBbid Gaming Monitor, 144Hz Review
Display: 24 ″ | Resolution: 1920 × 1080 | Image aspect ratio: 16: 9 | Refresh rate: 144Hz | Panel Type: TN | Response time: 1ms | Viewing angle: 170/160 |
This monitor is the cheapest 144Hz gaming monitor on the market.
Colors
The maximum recorded contrast is 943:1, quite decent for a TN panel, the value being drawn down by the minimum brightness, which as in the case of the AOC G2460PF monitor, is quite high.
The color temperature of 7.412 K is close to the value recorded by the Asus VG248QE, and the gamma value is 2.61. Acer GN246HLBbid covers 95% of the sRGB color space.
Response time and input lag
The monitor comes with the Overdrive function activated, without offering the possibility to choose its level. It has a very good response time of only 2.9 ms. The input lag value is excellent, the monitor recording only 10.2 ms at 144Hz and 7.4 ms at 60Hz.
Built Quality
The appearance of the monitor is simple, without standing out with anything, and its stand is not height adjustable. The tilt of the monitor is only 5 degrees to the front and 15 degrees to the back.
The menu consists of symbols and it is not clear what they do. You must either enter each option to see what settings are available, or consult the monitor manual until you get used to the menu. A simple change of brightness requires 6 steps through the menu, and a change of color channels 12 steps.
In the menu we find 4 preset modes: Eco, Standard, Graphics and Movie, the only difference between them being the contrast and brightness settings. These modes are fixed and cannot be modified.
The monitor has 3D function but unfortunately, like the Asus VG24Q-E, the Acer monitor is not flicker free.
The screen is matte, with an anti-reflective coating, its frames and its stand are glossy. The GN246HLBbid does not support FreeSync or G-sync for AMD or Nvidia video cards. The Acer GN246HLBbid has no built-in speakers, but comes with a headphone jack.
The Acer GN246HLBbid is a monitor that does not excel in contrast, colors, gamma, has a heavy menu, Overdrive can not be changed and the stand does not support height adjustment.
Its response time, as well as the input lag are excellent, but for some extra bucks you can get a much better gaming monitor.
