Opera's Android browser has built-in Ethereum cryptocurrency wallet

Opera announced that its new browser, available for Android devices, has today launched the possibility to navigate using decentralized applications with a crypto wallet built on Ethereum technology.

At the Hard Fork Decentralized event in London, Opera has in fact announced the new integration of a crypto wallet built on Ethereum’s technology to the already known Opera Web 3 app that is now in beta.Check the official tweet from Opera below.

The app, currently available only for Android devices and downloadable from Google Play, offers the following opportunities:

  •  Send and receive crypto

  •  Make simple online shopping in crypto

  • Explore and discover DApps - decentralized applications - within the Ethereum blockchain-based browser

  •  Store and collect standard ERC-20 and ERC-721 tokens (such as CryptoKitties)

Waiting for the competition including Google, Opera wins the record for being the first browser with features relevant to the world of cryptocurrencies and blockchain, allowing users to interact with decentralized apps (dApps), manage their digital identity and make transactions.

At the event, Executive Vice President Krystian Kolondra said:

"Our hope is that this step will accelerate the transition of cryptocurrencies from speculation and investment to being used for payments and actual transactions in the daily lives of our users".

The project leader Charles Hamel explained:

"We have decided to support Ethereum, as it has the largest developer community that builds Dapps and has gained a lot of momentum."

The company's mission is to develop this application from a user-friendly perspective, initially using Ethereum for the variety of DApps and tokens present in the crypto market, trying to continue to adapt the model to other devices such as Windows, Mac and Linux but also to introduce other protocols in the future so as to give easy access to other crypto.

The company has finally explained how this is a real challenge based on the continuous study of these new technologies that open new horizons, trying to keep the final product simpler for users who by themselves speculators or investors become real crypto user .
