The Galaxy S11 The Most Anticipated Samsung Phone: Specs, Price and Release Date

It's no secret that Samsung is preparing to launch the Galaxy S11, a new flagship smartphone for next spring. Rumors say it could be launched even earlier, sometime in February, and the internet is already full of all kinds of information about this device, some more credible and some less credible. Here is a complete list of information we have so far about the Galaxy S11, the next Samsung flagship.

Samsung Galaxy S11 Design

Samsung has perfected over the last few years a sleek, curved screen design with glass on the back and a metal frame in the middle, which is becoming thinner. The design of the Galaxy S11 is not expected to depart too far from this already established formula, which can be very similar to the Galaxy Note10 in many ways.

In fact, the Galaxy S10 and Note10 are already very similar, but the S models have always been more "rounded". Thus, we expect a curved OLED screen design for the Galaxy S11 and S11+, with slightly more rounded corners, a fingerprint sensor integrated into the display and a camera with at least three cameras, but rumors are talking about the integration of four sensors on the back.

Most likely, Samsung will use the horizontal positioning for the cameras, but choosing a vertical design, like the Note10 models is not completely removed from the picture. As the symmetrical design of the Note10 screen has been very successful among critics and users, we expect the Galaxy S11 to place the front camera in the central area also, in a more subtle cut.

What we won't see on the Galaxy S11 is a headphone jack. The Galaxy S10 was the company's last flagship device equipped with such a component, and starting with the Galaxy Note10 and Galaxy Fold, Samsung will approach headphones either via USB Type-C or wireless headphones.

In addition, the company sells such headphones and expects customers to buy either the AKG models with USB-C (model that is also delivered in the phone case) or Galaxy Buds, the true wireless headphones that compete with Apple's AirPods market.

Rumors so far say that the Galaxy S11 will be another design improvement and not a real revolution. That time will probably come next year, when Samsung will refine the technology that allows the front camera to be hidden under the display, thus completely dropping the cutouts.

Samsung Glaxy S11’s 100 Megapixel Camera

And since it was all about the camera, we have to deal with a series of rumors dedicated to this component of the phone as well. Samsung announced a few months ago the 108-megapixel ISOCELL Bright HMX sensor, which has already been integrated into a smartphone from Xiaomi: Mi CC9 Pro. It seems to be very efficient, getting a score equal to that of the Huawei Mate 30 Pro on DxOMark, considered the best on the market.

It looks like Samsung will use the Xiaomi phones as a test prototype, using an improved version of this sensor on its own devices. Rumors say that this sensor will also benefit from a three-stage variable aperture lens, compared to the two-stage lens we currently find on the S9, Note9, S10 and Note10 models.

In fact, this will be the first Samsung smartphone with a completely new flagship sensor from the Galaxy S8 generation, the differences in performance between the cameras being minor between the generations, rather the software being the element that makes the difference.

Alongside the 108-megapixel camera, the Galaxy S11 is expected to feature an ultra-wide lens sensor, similar to the S10 and Note10, as well as a 5X optical zoom camera using a "Space Zoom" periscopic lens. This technology is not new, being presented in the past by OPPO and recently implemented by Huawei on the P30 Pro.

Last but not least, the Galaxy S11 could also benefit from a 3D TOF sensor, which has already been implemented on the Galaxy S10 + 5G and Note10 +. It could be used to enhance the augmented reality features of the phone, as well as to take pictures in portrait mode with better separation of the subject from the background.

Another element that could be found on the Galaxy S11 could be a smartphone premiere: a spectrometer. How it will be implemented and what it will be useful to see, but in theory, such a sensor could be used to calculate calories in food.

Galaxy S11 and 5G connectivity

While the Galaxy S10 and Note10 came in "special" 5G variants, the Galaxy S11 could all be factory-fitted with 5G. This will be guaranteed by the fact that we already know about the existence of the recently announced Exynos 990 chipset, which integrates a 5G modem, unlike previous versions, which required the installation of a separate modem of this kind. The new modem is from a new generation, which promises 5G throughput speeds of up to 8 Gbps in short runs and up to 3.5 Gbps in long-term transfers,

Given that 2021 will be the year that 5G networks will truly begin to expand, the presence of such a modem will be very important on top devices from most manufacturers. Because Samsung Galaxy phones always use Qualcomm processors in the US and China, Galaxy S11 models are expected in these regions with the Snapdragon 865 chipset with the next-generation Qualcomm 5G modem integrated.

Galaxy S11 - sizes and models

Galaxy S10 was the first Samsung series to come in three variants: S10e, S10 and S10+. Three models are expected for the Galaxy S11 series as well, but they will be much different. First, they are expected with much larger screens. For example, the Galaxy S11e, the smallest version, is expected with a 6.4 "screen, the Galaxy S11 could integrate a 6.7" screen, while the Galaxy S11 + will be delivered with a 6.9 "screen. All screens will be curved, no exceptions.

Given that there will be 5G variants and 5G-free variants, the Galaxy S11 series might look like this: Galaxy S11e, Galaxy S11e 5G, Galaxy S11, Galaxy S11 5G and Galaxy S11 + with 5G as the standard option.

Price and estimated release date

Given the latest launches in the smartphone market and the prices that Samsung and its competition are asking for, Samsung could launch the devices at competitive starting prices, but could go far to the top.

The Galaxy S11e could be a competing model for the iPhone 11, so it could come in at $699 in store offerings, with a higher price for the 5G variant, probably $100 more, at $799. By the way, the S11e could It comes with storage larger than the iPhone, with standard 128 or 256 GB and more RAM (probably 8 GB).

However, the standard Galaxy S11 might be cheaper than the iPhone 11 Pro. Samsung traditionally launches this model at a price of $100 less than the competing iPhone, so we could see a starting price of $899 for the 4G, with 128 or 256 GB of storage. The 5G version could be $100 more expensive, at $999 and probably with more RAM (probably 12 GB).

Finally, the Galaxy S11 + could hit the market for $1,099, the same price Apple is asking for the iPhone 11 Pro Max with 64GB. If history repeats itself, the Galaxy S11 + with 5G could be equipped with 256 GB of storage and 12 GB of RAM from the start, and a version with 512GB of storage might be available for those who want to pay an extra $100.

The exact release date is not currently known, but the presentation event could take place sometime in mid-February or sometime towards the end of this month, with stores appearing sometime in early March.

Galaxy S11 could be the first phone in the world equipped with Snapdragon 865, so it won't be too late, as the end of February will also be held at MWC 2019, where several devices equipped with this processor will be unveiled.
