Alleged Bitcoin Creator Craig Wright Faces Lawsuit
The man who claimed in 2016 to be the creator of bitcoin, Craig Wright, is now facing a lawsuit. Wright is being accused of stealing $5 billion worth of cryptocurrencies, as well as other assets. Wright is called the self-proclaimed creator of bitcoin as he actually was the one who claimed in 2016 that he was Satoshi Nakamoto.
It is widely known by bitcoin enthusiasts that Satoshi Nakamoto is the creator of bitcoin. However, the identity of the man/men behind the digital currency has never been confirmed.
Craig Wright engaged in a scheme to steal $5 billion worth of digital currencies
Allegedly, the person who is accusing Wright of wrongdoing is his former business partner. The lawsuit was filed in the US District Court for the Southern District of Florida. According to the legal documents, the defendant cheated his business partner, Dave Kleiman, out of hundreds of thousands of bitcoins, but also of intellectual property rights related to blockchain technologies.
The legal proceedings were filed by the brother of Kleiman, as Kleiman suffered a motorcycle accident and passed away in 2013. According to the filing, Kleiman and Wright were business partners on a project to mine bitcoin. They launched a firm focused on bitcoin mining and software development and research. However, Wright allegedly created some contracts to claim the bitcoins that were mined by Kleiman fraudulently.
The lawsuit does not confirm that Wright was the founder of bitcoin. It actually says that it is unclear if the two participated in the creation of the digital currency. What the lawsuit claims is that without a doubt both Wright and Kleiman were involved in bitcoin since the very beginning. Allegedly, the two helped the development of bitcoin.
Of course, the lawsuit has just been filed, so the court is yet to determine if it has merits.
